The SEO Specialist's purpose is to champion our digital presence by optimising our online platforms and ensuring we are at the forefront of search engine results. This role is a key enabler, providing the strategic and technical expertise that allows our content, marketing, and engineering teams to connect guests with Africa's stories and experiences. By maintaining our digital health and staying ahead of industry trends, the specialist ensures Rhino Africa continues to lead the conversation and inspire life-changing journeys.


 

What You’ll Do:

  • SEO Maintenance & Reporting
    • Keep up to date with international SEO trends and incorporate them in our web strategies
    • Run regular site audits for Rhino Africa’s website and blog.
    • Regularly report on Rhino Africa’s on-page and off-page SEO performance and identify areas for optimisation (e.g. impressions, clicks, rankings, CTR, visibility %).
    • Monitor and respond to Google Core Updates and other algorithmic changes.
    • Maintain and manage our SEO tool stack, including subscriptions and logins.

 

  • On-page SEO 
    • Implement the SEO/GEO strategy and best practices across all languages on Rhino Africa’s website and blog.
    • Ensure on-page SEO on Rhino Africa’s website and blog is optimised.
    • Conduct regular keyword research, content gap analysis, and competitor analysis to improve Rhino Africa’s content. 
    • Ensure that we follow best practice regarding on-page SEO in all current and future content and web projects.  
    • Oversee on-page SEO across content types, ensuring alignment with keyword intent, content structure and formatting, technical standards, and semantic clarity.
    • Implement annual and ad hoc website and Res system content updates, including Service Provider prices, Tours, Experiences, Destinations, Terms and Conditions, and Policies; in collaboration with the Product and Sales teams.
    • Formulate hypotheses (A/B Testing) and implement testing on on-page elements when necessary, to make data-driven decisions to optimise the website and blog.

 

  • Technical SEO
    • Conduct regular technical SEO audits, diagnose performance issues, and collaborate with members of the Engineering team to ensure our website and blog meet evolving search and answer engine requirements.
    • Constantly improve Rhino Africa’s website health score by collaborating with the Engineering team to ensure robust implementation of structured data (schema.org, JSON-LD), canonicalisation, internal linking, site speed, and indexability best practices.
    • Ensure that technical and off-page SEO on Rhino Africa’s website and blog is optimised and up-to-date with new trends.
    • Develop and implement a backlink strategy for Rhino Africa.
    • Ensure that we follow best practice regarding international, technical and off-page SEO in all current and future content and web projects. 

 

  • Communication & Collaboration
    • Foster the relationship with our Engineering team by consulting and liaising with them regarding all current and future content and web projects as well as any development requests.
    • Proactively communicate SEO strategies, updates, and results to relevant internal teams, including the Marketing, Content and Engineering teams, ensuring everyone is aligned on goals and progress.
    • Work closely with the content team to ensure all new content is optimised for search and serve, helping them understand the context and purpose of their work.
    • Collaborate effectively with the Engineering team to implement technical SEO improvements and fixes.
    • Actively seek feedback and input from colleagues to identify opportunities for improvement and solve problems together, where applicable.
    • Communicate performance against targets clearly, without jargon, so that all stakeholders understand the "why" and the impact of the work.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Diploma in a related field (Marketing, Communication, Computer Science); a Degree is advantageous.
  • Completion of SEO-related courses: Red & Yellow or similar is highly expected.
  • 3-5 years proven experience in SEO, with a solid understanding of digital marketing and website development.
  • Proven expertise in on-page and technical SEO, including semantic SEO and structured data.
  • Skilled in key SEO tools: Google Analytics, Search Console, SEMrush, and Screaming Frog, or similar.
  • A working understanding of HTML/CSS and how LLMs interpret content.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite and CMS environments.
  • Strong analytical, reporting, and organisational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • A collaborative, humble, and approachable self-starter with integrity, initiative, and clear communication skills.
  • Excellent time management and punctuality.
