We’re looking for an experienced and dynamic Sales Manager to join our thriving tour operator business.
As the Sales Manager, you will be at the forefront of shaping our travel offerings through driving revenue by leading and motivating a team of sales consultants. The Sales Manager is responsible for developing a strong sales team, ensuring seamless service delivery and monitoring performance to guide and support sales consultants to achieve their key performance indicators. Your ability to ensure the delivery of exceptional customer service will directly impact our competitiveness, profitability, and the overall quality of the travel experiences we provide.
Your multifaceted expertise in Sales Performance, Client Experience and Compliance, Collaboration and Reporting ensures a holistic approach to manage top client experience and drive business success. Your contributions across these key performance areas will be vital in achieving our organisational goals and further establishing our tour operator business as a leader in the industry.
As a Sales Manager your responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:
- Monitoring critical metrics and evaluating the performance of teams and individuals
- Identifying growth opportunities or knowledge gaps within the sales teams and designing personal development plans for individuals
- Managing strategic departmental goals, for example, the achievement of annual preferred supplier override agreements
- Developing and overseeing the implementation of repeat and referral reactivation
- Driving sales through constant coaching, motivating and feedback
- Developing and maintaining best practices and continually updating and recording processes
- Producing summary and bi-directional reporting and highlighting trends in sales team data
- Ensuring the sales team remains motivated and the company culture and values are promoted
- Carrying out periodic performance management reviews on the team (quarterly or other)
- Overseeing operational capacity including the scheduling of leave cycles, shifts and absentees to enable optimal operations at all times
- Acting as the first level in vetting and resolving client and supplier service issues
- Supervising and ensuring fulfillment of administrative tasks: deposits, supplier payments, ad-hoc reporting
- Managing the entire client service cycle, including:
- Reviewing sales communications to ensure compliance with brand tone and client-centric approach
- Monitoring initial client contact, response time and content
- The active inclusion of sales tools (discounts, specials etc) during the quotation process
- Supervision of touch points from booking to post-travel
- Supervision of documents and dispatch output
- Oversee post-travel client feedback and build relationships
- Communication & content production, trade shows and any other responsibilities as designated by management
- Collaborating with the Product Team to plan educational requirements, capacity and site inspections
- Collaborating with the Marketing team for newsletters and content creation as well as lead distribution
- Preparing weekly sales meetings with sales team including setting of agenda,collating and analysing data and preparing all relevant information
- Preparing weekly and monthly team performance reports against targets to the Head of Sales
- Identify PIPS and PDP in collaboration with the Head of Sales
Requirements
- National Senior Certificate (Matric)
- Diploma in Travel and Tourism
- Based in Cape Town
- Minimum 5 years' experience in Sales Management in Travel and Tourism
- High client centricity
- Excellent people management and leadership skills
- Strong communication and relationship-building abilities
- Results-driven
- Analytical and strategic thinking skills
Not essential but advantageous:
- Degree in Travel and Tourism
- Experience working with Salesforce software
- Proficient in Google Suite
- Budget management experience
