Job Purpose
- As Head of Business Intelligence you will work collaboratively with both senior leaders in the organisation and key stakeholders across the business in order to support effective decision making and planning.
- You will be responsible for implementing Master Data Management and enabling event-driven reporting with emphasis on forecasting while leading the migration of the Data Warehouse from on-premises to cloud.
- You will lead the development of the Business Intelligence team while defining the future strategy and vision for Business Intelligence at Rhino Africa. You will manage a team of 4 Business Intelligence professionals and collaborate with our Engineering team when it comes to Data Architecture.

About the team
- The Technology department at Rhino Africa is made of Business Intelligence, Engineering, Data Quality and Salesforce. In total there are 20 technology professionals in the department, a mix of Analysts, Developers and Engineers.
- Our Business Intelligence team is made of Analytics and Development. 3 BI Analysts make our Analytics team while 1 BI Developer is responsible for our DWH dev. Data Architecture is supplied by the Engineering team. Our team’s tech stack includes: Tableau, MySQl, Talend, Pentaho, Jenkins, Salesforce, Google Sheets among others.
Responsibilities
- Manage a team of Business Intelligence professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and mentorship.
- Ensure accurate and timely delivery of business intelligence reports and insights.
- Design and implement operational metrics, dashboards and reporting for different business teams
- Lead deep-dive analysis of sales pipeline, internal processes, and productivity
- Implement Master Data Management to improve data quality and accuracy across the organisation.
- Collaborate with the Engineering team to ensure the successful migration of the Data Warehouse to the cloud.
- Develop and implement event-driven reporting processes to provide real-time data insights and support decision making.
- Drive the development and implementation of forecasting models to support business planning and decision making.
- Oversee the migration of data structures within the Data Warehouse to support forecasting efforts.
- Develop and maintain a data architecture that aligns with business objectives and supports data-driven decision making.
- Ensure data governance processes are in place and followed, to ensure data privacy and security.
- Provide support to improve data quality and data integrity within the organisation.
- Lead the recruitment, onboarding, and performance reviews of team members.
- Manage external BI service providers and consultants that on-occasion extend the skills of the Business Intelligence team.
- Foster a culture of data-driven decision making and continuous improvement within the organisation.
- Keep up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in Business Intelligence
Requirements
- BA/Bcom/BsC in Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Business or related field.
- At least 6 years of experience in Business Intelligence, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience leading a team of business intelligence professionals, with a track record of delivering results.
- Knowledge of Master Data Management and data governance frameworks.
- Familiarity with event-driven reporting and forecasting techniques.
- Strong knowledge of data warehousing and business intelligence solutions, including experience with cloud-based solutions.
- Excellent leadership, mentorship, and people management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively and strategically.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence across the organisation.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
