As the ideal candidate you will take ownership for ensuring the quality of our data and reports will enable quality data driven decisions. The Data Quality Analyst will assist in the improvement of Rhino Africa’s overall data quality and integrity across the company’s production systems. Your duties include performing data monitoring, verifying the integrity of the database and reports, and enforcing data quality best practice guidelines and procedures to resolve any potential issues.


 

As a Data Quality Analyst, your responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

 

  • Strategize and identify ways of improving the overall quality of the data
  • Developing, Implementing and enforces data quality best practice guidelines, processes, policies, procedures, productivity standards, providing training and resolving operations problems.
  • Provide analytic and project management support to data quality initiatives
  • Determine business impact level for data quality issues
  • Provide accurate and appropriate interpretation of data, applying knowledge to evaluation, analysis, and interpretation of data
  • Analyse data for compliance to design specification (source-to-target) and expected/anticipated behaviours, identifying quality issues and recommending solutions
  • Perform root cause analysis on data issues and recommend data quality controls and long term solutions to resolve gaps/issues.
  • Review, enhance, and update documentation workflows
  • Review SQL/ETL code to identify sources of data and the accuracy and completeness thereof.
  • Assist with the improving automated data quality processes and alerts on data sets and reports.
  • Actively communicate to internal/external/stakeholders/customers quality issues with regards to the way data is collected, stored, processed or used
  • Develop subject matter expertise on the key sources for diverse business analysis and advise developers and analysts on deliveries.
  • Assist business teams and management with the development and implementation of operational metrics, dashboards and reporting.

 

 

Requirements

Our ideal Data Quality Analyst will possess:

 

  • BA/BCom/BsC in Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Business or related field
  • 1-3 Years as Quality Analyst or experience in Data Quality Management/Validation
  • 1-3 Years experience in ETL Scheduling & Migration (preferred Pentaho / Talend)
  • 1-3 Years experience in MySQL/SQL
  • 1-3 Years experience in Tableau

 

Knowledge of the following will be advantageous:

  • Experience with Google Suite and overall computer literacy
  • Basic Knowledge of MySQL/SQL or similar querying languages and
  • Basic Knowledge of Salesforce
  • Visualisation software like Tableau, PowerBI or SSRS
  • Ability to work with both technical and non-technical business owners to get things done
  • Strong communication in order to liaise with key stakeholders such as the marketing and sales teams or the Tech team
  • Problem solving and diagnostic acumen, strong analytical mind-set
  • Acute attention to detail and organisational skills in order to prioritise tasks and relay insights to members of the leadership team
  • Ability to self learn to develop required skills
